It happened on Monday, Oct. 28 just before 3 p.m. in Deer Park.

Robert Donohue, 51, of Deer Park, was crossing Deer Park Avenue eastbound at Grand Boulevard from the southwest corner of the street, when he was struck by a southbound pickup truck at 2:53 p.m., Suffolk County Police said. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Donohue was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a dark-colored four-door pickup truck with possible front end and passenger-side damage.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
